Engineer, Writer, Presenter
I am a chemical engineer, working in energy. I have worked in coal and gas fired power stations, oil and gas, district heating systems, and energy innovation, including production of hydrogen and energy efficiency in industry. Having fallen into chemical engineering by accident, I am now passionate about promoting engineering stories and careers to the public and young people.
Writing is really important to me. I am currently writing first book, Power Up, due to be published by Hodder & Stoughton in 2024. I have written about engineering and energy for the BBC, Metro, the Huffington Post, and others.
I have spoken to live audiences of many shapes and sizes, in lots of different settings, about what engineering is and what I do. This includes children, teachers, professionals, and the public; in schools, universities, awards ceremonies, and public engagement events.
I also present in video and radio format. I have been featured on television and radio as a presenter and as an expert, more about that on my 'Live talks' and 'TV & radio' pages.
In recognition of my public engagement work, I was awarded the Women's Engineering Society Young Woman Engineer award in 2013, shortlisted for the WeAreTheCity Rising Star Science and Engineering and PRECIOUS Outstanding Woman in Science, Technology, Engineering & Maths awards in 2017, and shortlisted for the Asian Women of Achievement Awards - Science category in 2019. In 2020, I was listed as one of the Top 50 Women in Engineering: Sustainability by the Women's Engineering Society.
I am available to write and present, so do get in touch via the contact page.
